Police Blotter

SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER

A male juvenile was identified as a suspect involved in the brief kidnapping of a female on Yukon Drive Feb. 16. Charges are pending against him.

BREAKING ALL THE RULES

A vehicle that almost struck a marked patrol car Feb. 26 was stopped and the driver was arrested for probation violations and driving without a valid license. Clinton Charlie's probation required that he not have any alcohol or drugs, but the officer smelled and observed alcohol in the vehicle, and later found what was suspected to be cocaine. Charlie was arrested for the license violation, possessing a controlled substance, and probation violations.

PAIR IS SNARED

A driver with an invalid license and his passenger were both arrested on Farmers Loop during a traffic stop around 3:00 a.m. Feb. 22. Forty-two year-old Michael D. Brinkmeyer was taken to jail along with Janine Yolanda Jackson, 38, who had an extraditable warrant out of Colorado.

UNDERAGE, OVER THE LIMIT

An underage drinker was caught driving on Geist Road around 2:00 a.m. Feb. 27. He had not consumed enough to be legally drunk, but was cited for operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol. He was released to another person.

LOOPY

A vehicle on Farmers Loop was impounded after an officer observed the driver speeding, changing lanes without signaling, and later discovered a lack of current registration and insurance.

TURN ON YOUR LOVE LIGHT

An unlicensed driver was stopped for driving with her headlights off on N. Tanana Drive just before 1:00 a.m. Feb. 21. Robyn J. Demientieff, 20, was issued a court summons and the vehicle was left in a parking lot.

E.T. PHONE HOME

The mother of a Barlett Hall resident called police Feb. 26 to request that they check on her son. They left a message with him and he later called his mom.

FLUSTERED FEMALE

Residence Life staff contacted a distraught female at Nerland Hall around 10:00 p.m. Feb. 26 and determined that she was not an immediate risk. She was referred to Health and Counseling for assistance.

SIMMER DOWN NOW

An officer assisted the Troopers with a noise complaint on Amherst Drive around 2:00 a.m. Feb. 21. A large party was in progress.

BUGS BITE

An offensive computer virus that was received by an individual off-campus was reported to UAF police Feb. 24 around 6:30 a.m. A copy of the statement was faxed to the Alaska State Troopers.

RUDE DUDE

A person made some comments during a class in the Gruening Building Feb. 16 that made their classmates very uncomfortable. The remarks were not found to be criminal by police.

SHADDUP YA MOUTH

A student who continually disrupted a class was reported to police Feb. 20.

MALICIOUS MAIL

An anonymous threatening letter received in the mail prompted a person to call the police Feb. 23.

$#@% YOU!!!

Harassing communications were reported from Moore Hall Feb. 23.

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW

A cell phone was reported lost from the Fine Arts Complex Feb. 27.

INAPPROPRIATE TOUCHING REPORTED

Police received a report Feb. 26 of a juvenile male who had fondled another juvenile male several months ago. The incident was referred to the Department of Family and Youth Services.
