TEENAGE
WASTELAND The UAF
K-9 unit was roaming the halls of North Pole High School Feb. 12. Briko
indicated the presence of narcotics on numerous locations in the school. The
NPHS administration is continuing the investigation. THREE
DEGREES OF SEPARATION An
officer contacted three intoxicated men at the bus stop Feb. 11. Forty-three
year-old Mickey Smith was arrested for criminal trespassing and sent to jail.
Another subject was issued a trespass from all UAF property for five years, and
the remaining individual departed on the Blue Line bus. PUNK IN
DRUBLIC An
intoxicated male in the Wood Center bathroom was reported to police Feb. 11.
They transported the man to his residence on Iniakuk Drive and issued him a
one-year trespass from campus. JUST A
BAD DREAM An
unconscious intoxicated female was reported at Moore Hall Feb. 12 around 7:00
a.m. After EMS decided that she required no medical assistance, 18-year-old
Terra J. Abbot was issued a court summons for habitual minor consuming because
of a previous offense. THEN
AGAIN… Someone
caught a whiff of pot smoke at Moore Hall the night of Feb. 8, and made a report
to police. The occupant of the smelly room gave partial consent for the police
to search the room at first, but later revoked the consent. An officer did not
find anything, but did note the aroma. ROBO
HOBO A
suspicious female, reported as a possible vagrant, was hanging around the Arctic
Health Building late the night of Feb. 8. She was given a ride off campus after
being advised that she was trespassing. A
SLIGHT DETOUR A
47-year-old woman was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after
refusing to provide her license during a traffic stop on Haida Street around
5:00 a.m. Feb. 9. Addie Pearl
Williams was pulled over for failing to signal a turn, and ended up in Fairbanks
Correctional Center. CONCERNED
COPS A guy
having a bad day was contacted outside the police department Feb. 11 because he
appeared to be upset. An officer transported his mother to the police department
so they could talk about it. GETTING
NOTICED A
vehicle running a red light at Airport and Peger almost hit an officer Feb. 6.
The driver turned out to be an unlicensed minor who received a court summons. A
parent came to pick up the vehicle. OVER
THE LIMIT A
vehicle was pulled over on Fairbanks Street Feb. 6 for having inoperative
taillights. John G. Irons III, 50, was arrested for DWI with a Breathalyzer
reading of .110 and was taken to FCC. A DATE
WITH DESTINY A
resident of the Upper Dorms was arrested on an outstanding warrant around
midnight Feb. 7. Ashley Van Hatten, 18, was taken to Fairbanks Correctional
Center. NO
TICKET TO RIDE A
vehicle was pulled over for failing to stop at a S. Chandalar stop sign around
3:00 a.m. Feb. 7. Francis Rae Eyak Hugo, 23, was issued a court summons for
driving without a license and failure to stop. DEALING
WITH DRUGS The DEA
required the assistance of a UAF officer Feb. 11 with a search warrant
off-campus. The
Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit required the assistance of a UAF officer
off-campus Feb. 11. IMPROPER
CREDENTIALS After
weaving over the centerline on Geist Road in the early morning of Feb. 12, Glen
D. Jackson, 22, was arrested for driving with a suspended license. SPROUTED
LEGS A
wallet was reported missing from the Patty Center Feb. 12. GOOD
SCENTS The K-9
unit assisted the Alaska State Troopers with a narcotics sniff on a vehicle Feb.
