Fairbanks Piano Festival

Students in grades 1 through college participate in different musical divisions at the Fairbanks Piano Festival. Gold medal winners perform in an honors concert at Davis Concert Hall.

Fairbanks Suzuki Institute

The Fairbanks Suzuki Institute is an intensive five-day session for flute, violin, viola, and cello musicians who use the Suzuki method. Students ages 3–18 may participate in chamber music, steel drums, Dalcroze classes, Suzuki repertoire classes, technique, and master classes. Violin teacher training is also offered. The institute includes daily recitals and a final concert open to the public.

Summer Music Academy

The UAF Summer Music Academy is an intensive two-week session for students who have completed grades 6–12. Participants will have opportunities to attend master classes, perform in instrumental chamber ensembles, brass and vocal ensembles, jazz combos, large and small vocal ensembles, and world beat/steel drum bands. Participants will also perform in weekday recitals and a final concert. Students in grades 11 and 12, who are at an advanced level of study with their instrument, may apply for the mentoring program. Mentors work with less advanced students in all ensembles and play in faculty ensembles. The Academy faculty is drawn from members of the UAF music faculty, UAF alumni who are professional musicians and educators, and selected guest faculty.

Visual Arts Academy

The UAF Visual Arts Academy is an intensive two-week visual arts program for students who are in grades 6-12. Participants will have the opportunity to work with professional artists. This program is designed for students who are seriously dedicated to their art. The following courses are offered: ceramics, computer arts, drawing, metalsmithing, native arts, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.
