Tuition Waiver Drawing

Official Rules

These are the Official Rules that apply to the UAF Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning Tuition Waiver Drawing

1. HOW THE DRAWING WORKS:  Each month during the drawing period, there will be a random drawing from among all contestants who fill out and submit the on-line entry form that month.  The drawing will be held on the last day of the month unless that day falls on a Saturday or Sunday.  If that occurs, the drawing will be on the last Friday of the month.

2.  HOW TO ENTER: All eligible persons may enter the drawing by completing the on-line entry form.  You must enter each month you wish to be eligible for that month’s drawing.  You can only win once and your entry after you have won will not be included in future drawings.  Entering more than once each month will not increase your chances of winning because each month we will eliminate duplicate entries. By entering the drawing you agree that you have read, understand and will follow and to be bound by these rules.

3. ELIGIBILITY:  You must be a United States citizen and must be at least 18 years old or older in order to enter this drawing.  Employees of University of Alaska system and their immediate family members (spouses, parents, children and siblings) and individuals living in the same household as the employees are not eligible to enter or win. Also this Drawing is void where prohibited by law.

4. TAXES: All federal, state, and local taxes that may be due on prize are the sole responsibility of the winners

5. THE PRIZE:  The winner will receive a tuition waiver of one credit for any undergraduate level course offered by the UAF Summer Sessions.  The tuition waiver is not transferable by the winner to another person or entity and no cash equivalent or other alternate or substitute prize is available.  The tuition waiver must be used at UAF and must be used during the summer of the calendar year in which it was received. The one-credit tuition waiver is not transferable to other campuses or universities within or outside the University of Alaska system.  All contestants are advised that the only prizes in these drawings are the one-credit tuition waivers described in this paragraph.

6.  VERIFICATION:  The University reserves the right to require the winners to verify their identity before granting them the right to use the one-credit tuition waiver.

7.  USE OF WINNER’S NAME AND LIKENESS:  The winners agree to grant the University a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, publish, copy, exhibit, broadcast, reproduce, distribute, transmit and display their names and likenesses in any form or medium now known or hereafter to become known for purposes of advertising and promoting the University worldwide and in perpetuity and without any compensation to the winners.

8.  LIMITS OF LIABILITY:  By entering this drawing, you agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the University, its Board of Regents, its officers, staff and employees, from or against any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions, attorneys’ fees or liability of any kind resulting from or arising from participation in these drawings or acceptance, possession, use, misuse, or nonuse of any prize that may be awarded.  The University, its Regents, officers, staff and employees are not responsible for computer, telephonic or any electronic equipment errors, malfunctions or disruptions, any printing errors, typographical errors or other errors relating or in connection with these drawings and also not responsible for mistakes in processing the entries, administering these drawings, announcing the winners, and awarding the prizes.  The University, its Board of Regents, its officers, staff and employees are not responsible for entries that fail to enter into the processing system, or are processed, reported or transmitted late, incorrectly or are lost.  As a condition of entering these drawings you agree to waive all right to claim punitive, incidental, consequential, recovery of attorneys’ fees or another damages or costs other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses. Also you agree that all disputes or causes of action arising out of these drawings, will be resolved individually and not as a class action matter.  Finally in the event of a dispute as to the identity or eligibility of a winner based on an e-mail address, the winning entry will be the “Authorized Account Holder” of the e-mail address submitted at the time of the entry. “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an internet provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the e-mail address.
