Fairbanks 911 - Inside the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Systems
June 3 - 7, 2013 Monday – Friday , 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Fee : $250. Location : 604 Barnette Street, Room 119, 6-7:00 pm.
This camp offers students age 13-15, the opportunity to spend a week exploring the many facets of today’s criminal justice and public safety systems. Students will be introduced to the fascinating areas of forensics and investigate the various law enforcement agencies, the Division of Corrections and the State of Alaska Court System to discover the work they perform. The week will include on-site visits to the various components of the justice system along with hands-on learning activities with justice professionals. A Parent/Student Orientation Meeting will be held before the course begins, at the UAF Community and Technical College Building, 604 Barnette Street.

Instructors Mike Daku and Ed Husted both enjoy working with youth. Mike is an Assistant Professor of Justice at UAF and specializes in juvenile justice issues as well as corrections and substance abuse. Ed Husted is coordinator for Paralegal Studies at UAF’s Community and Technical College.
