Monday, June 1, 2009
Davis Concert Hall
UAF Alumna Grace Berg Schaible spent an evening talking about her Alaskan journey. Prompted by questions from interviewer Robert Hannon, she shared stories of her experiences as a child in Juneau, her years as an Alaskan attorney and her adventures as a retired Fairbanksan. Grace received her undergraduate degree from UAF in 1949 and went on to earn a law degree from Yale University in 1959.
Over the years Grace has received numerous honors and served the state in many ways. She was named one of the top 25 most powerful Alaskans in 2000 by the Alaska Journal of Commerce. She was the 2000 winner of the Bill Egan award, the state attorney general from 1987–89 and a Permanent Fund board member. An avid supporter of the university, she was the recipient of an honorary doctor of law degree from UAF, and is the former chair and now emeritus member of the UA Foundation Board of Trustees.
Grace has a passion for travel, polar bears, opera, public radio and television, literacy, the arts and all things Alaskan. Above all, she is an Alaskan who cares for her fellow human beings.
Presented by Summer@UAF and the UAF Alumni Association
