Senior citizen tuition waiver—UA Board of Regents policy waives regular tuition for Alaska residents at the age of full Social Security retirement benefits. You are eligible to utilize the Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver and enroll in UAF courses if:

  • you are a permanent resident of Alaska;
  • you are eligible to receive full Social Security retirement benefits; and
  • there is space in the class or classes you want.

Do not register until the first day of instruction if you are using a senior tuition waiver. You must meet both age and residency requirements by May 1, 2011. Senior citizen waiver processing must be completed at the Business Office. Reimbursements will not be made to senior citizens who pay for a course and then request a waiver.

NOTE: Alaska residents who were 60 years of age on or before September 20, 2005, are eligible for the Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver whether or not the social security requirements are met. If you have questions, call 907-474-7384.

Employee tuition waiver—Employee tuition waivers apply only to tuition. The student is responsible to pay all other fees by the payment deadline. Tuition waiver forms must be submitted before the fee payment deadline. To pay via the web, you must mail, deliver or fax the waiver to the Business Office at 907-474-5898 before you attempt to pay online. Reimbursements will not be made to employees/dependents who pay for a course or courses and later become eligible for and/or request a waiver. If you have questions concerning any of this information call the Business Office at 907-474-7384, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5p.m. (Alaska Time).
