Special Education Courses
This summer three courses are being offered to provide educators with graduate level training in special education.
EDSE F605 Early Childhood Special Education
EDSE F610 Assessment of Students with Disabilities
EDSE F612 Curriculum and Strategies I: Low Incidence
These courses will provide specific training in the areas of disabilities, assessment, intervention strategies, current law, implementation of programs and development of legally defensible federal IDEA documentation. Field experience opportunities will be available with a range of ages, levels and abilities. Students will become familiar with the content standards of the Council for Exceptional Children. See complete descriptions in the course listings under Education – Special Education.
Professionals with nine credit hours in Special Education are eligible, with a school district’s request, to apply for a waiver to teach special education. They then have two years from the issue of the waiver to complete the requirements for a special education endorsement.
