WINTERmester Lecture

Summer Sessions & Lifelong Learning is not just about summer; it operates throughout the year. During WINTERmester, Summer Sessions initiated a new tradition during the winter of 2010 with our first WINTERmester community lecture with retired professor Neal Brown's lectures on the Aurora.

In 2012, Professor John Walsh presented a lecture on climate change, which brought over 150 people to the Schiable Auditorium during -45 temperatures.

In January 2013, Cory Borgeson, CEO of Golden Valley Electric Association talked about Energy Issues in the Interior. The lecture was widely attended and appreciated; his talk explored the challenges and opportunities our community is facing with regard to energy.   If you missed Cory Borgeson's lecture, please click the link below to view a recording:  http://bit.ly/SnlmqM

WINTERmester Movie

This year a FREE family movie night to the opportunities available during WINTERmester.  Over 100 Fairbanksans came out to view Arctic Son, the story of a family who spent a year building and living in a cabin in the Brooks Range. The heart-felt story of this family touched a chord in the those who were there.  If you missed the movie night, the film can be checked out from the Rasmuson Library.
