Program Information

The Student Support Services (SSS) program located in 512 Gruening Building, provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with college requirements, and serves to motivate students towards the successful completion of their degree program. The program is funded by a TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Our services include:

  • Free tutorial services
  • Instruction in mathematics skills
  • Academic advising, mentoring and personal support
  • Cultural and social engagement
  • Use of laptop computers, labs, and other technology resources
  • Direct financial assistance to qualified low-income participants

All services are provided free of charge to eligible students. Our program is staffed with both professional and certified student tutors.

To receive SSS program services, a student must have academic need and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Financially limited according to federal criteria.
  • A first-generation college student (meaning neither parent has earned a Bachelor's degree)
  • A student with a documented physical or learning disability

Participants must also be enrolled in at least six hours of academic study, and intend to obtain a Bachelor's degree.
