Judicial services is headed by Don Foley. Don has worked at the University of Alaska Fairbanks since 1991 in a variety of capacities. He came to Alaska after working for five years at Utah State University in multiple positions in their housing system, leaving as Assistant Director of Residence Life. Prior to this he worked for two years at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, again in multiple positions in Student Affairs. In all three institutions Don has had significant university judicial services responsibilities.
While at UAF, Don has served as Director of Residence Life, Director of Judicial Services, Assistant Dean of Student Services, Associate Dean of Student Services, Interim Dean of Student Services, and currently serves as /Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Director of Judicial Services/. He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Pacific in History and Political Science in 1980, and his Masters degree in College Student Services Administration, with a minor in Sociology, from Oregon State University in 1984.
Don has ongoing professional affiliations with the Association of Student Judicial Affairs (ASJA) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). He has served as a board member for the NASPA western regional organization. Currently he supervises Residence Life, Judicial Services, Wood Center, and serves as the primary liaison between Student and Enrollment Services and the University Police. Don also serves as a resource for faculty members dealing with a variety of student concerns.
Beyond work, Don enjoys travel, sports (particularly baseball and hockey), jazz and country music, and reading. He spends "down time" spoiling his dog (Harley) and cat (Buddy), and continuing the search for the perfect barbecue recipe.
