WELCOME TO UAF INTRAMURALS

What are "Intramurals"?

Intramural sports are organized programs that allow students, faculty, staff and their significant others to participate in team, dual, and individual sport activities. Intramurals provides the opportunity for physical activity, fellowship, promotes wellness, and the use of leisure time.

What does the Intramural Program have to offer?

The Intramural Department offers over 40 events throughout the year. Activities and leagues are set up for teams, dual or individual events. Some activities include: Basketball, Hockey, Broomball, Volleyball, Soccer, Water Polo, Flag Football, Floor Hockey, Racquetball, Tennis, Badminton, Ultimate, and many more.

How do I get involved?

If you are an individual, you can sign up as a “FREE AGENT” and the intramural department will try to place you on a team. Teams can register by dropping off a completed entry form by the deadline due date.

What do I need to play?

To enter the Student Recreation Center (SRC) you are required to show your Polar Express I.D. (current SRC privileges required) and carry a pair of workout shoes in hand. Most of the equipment is provided.

Does it cost money?

Student fees cover most of the costs. Individuals will be required to pay a $5 entry fee due prior to play.

Is there a certain skill required?

The Intramural Program is designed for ALL skill levels. There is an “A” league for the competitive participants and a “B” for the recreational players. Selected events are designated for co-recreational participation.

Who can play on my team?

Any UAF student, faculty, staff and their significant other with an active SRC privilege on their Polar Express I.D. is eligible. Some restrictions apply to intercollegiate players. Alumni and non-UAF students are not allowed.

Can I play on more than one team?

Intramural participants may play on only one team per sport. However, if a co-ed league is offered, you may play on both a women’s or men’s team and a co-ed team in the same sport.

When/where are sign ups?

Each activity has specific sign up deadlines. Entry forms must be submitted by the deadline date into the Intramural Office. Call the Intramural Office at 474-6814 or check out the website: http://www.uaf.edu/src for dates.

What is an ENTRY FORM?

An entry form has a waiver of liability statement that must be signed by all team players. It includes name, signature, address, and phone number. The team entry form is due on the designated entry due dates.

Who is the team captain?

The team captain is the team representative and responsible for ensuring that the team roster is handed in, attends the captain’s meetings, and serves at the liaison between the Intramural Office and team.

Who attends the captain’s meeting?

The team captain or a representative is REQUIRED to attend the captain’s meeting to learn the policies/procedures of that particular activity and voice their input about when they will play and by which rules.

How many games do I play?

We try to schedule as many games possible in 5 weeks of league play (round robin) and 1 week of playoffs. Playoffs are determined by the league win/loss record to determine league Champions.

What does a league Champion win?

Champions win the pride of being a UAF Intramural champion and receive an Intramural Champion T-shirt.
