Dr. Nicole Cundiff is an expert on Diversity in Leadership, has investigated the impact gender has on perceptions of leaders, and was in evaluation and consulting for more than three years in Illinois before coming to Alaska.
Dr. Cundiff has published in the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies, International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, Management Research Review, Research in Higher Education, and the American Journal of Evaluation. She has also a book chapter titled Discrimination Against Women Leaders in Women as Transformational Leaders: From Grassroots to Global Interests (Eds. Paludi & Coates). She earned her undergraduate, master's degree, and Ph.D. in applied psychology with an additional master’s in business administration from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
As Director, Dr. Cundiff plans to expand the reach of the NLC to include statewide programs and leadership development projects. Here focus is to engage the students and the community in multiple dimensions of leadership.
Prior to becoming Director, Dr. Cundiff was a researcher for the Associate Chancellor of Diversity at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Dr. Cundiff enjoys cooking, eating, running, and relaxing with her kids. She has a daughter (Charlie) and son (Karim).

Diversity and gender in leadership, leadership prototypes, as well as program evaluation and development.
