The School of Management (SOM) is dedicated to providing high quality business education in Alaska. The School of Management provides students and researchers with a unique, quality-learning environment. The school's principle goal is to prepare articulate and broadly educated business professionals with special knowledge about Alaska and the North. SOM also supports the creating and dissemination of business knowledge, especially on those topics relevant to Alaska and the North.
The School of Management offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees with majors in accounting, business administration, and economics. The BBA in business administration has concentrations in Finance, Management and Organizations, and Marketing. A Bachelor's in Arts (BA) in economics is offered as well.
Graduate studies at SOM include the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with emphases in either General Management or Capital Markets. A Masters of Science in Resource and Applied Economics is also available.
All SOM degree programs address issues and circumstances appropriate to Alaska, including entrepreneurship, human resource management, regional economic development, financial institutions and markets, travel industry management, and accounting.
The School of Management is committed to excellence in every area. The quest for excellence in academia is a one of consistent, universal expectations. These standards apply to the faculty, staff, and students of the School of Management.
More About UAF
The University of Alaska Fairbanks campus is located a few miles from Fairbanks, near the center of the state. It is situated on 2,250 acres which include two lakes, 35 miles of cross country ski trails, and ample biking and jogging paths. The campus is located on a ridge overlooking the city of Fairbanks and the Tanana River Valley.
The School of Management is located in the heart of UAF campus in Bunnell Building, just south of the Fountain of Flags.
