You'll be naturally inspired when you study with the School of Natural Resources and Extension (SNRE). Engage with your environment while preparing for a career that will help restore our natural resources to a healthier condition for future generations. Undergraduate study incorporates field courses, internships and a senior thesis research project.

The SNRE academic departments provide teaching, research and outreach that promote the successful long-term management of Alaska's natural resources. You will be welcomed and guided through a stimulating educational experience that will take you into the boreal forest, coastlands, incredible mountains, permafrost, farms and fields of Alaska.

Forest Sciences

Our students get their boots dirty. In the forests surrounding the UAF campus or other forests across the state, they are naturally inspired by the ecosystems found in and around trees.

High Latitude Agriculture

Agriculture has been key to human civilization for centuries and it remains at the heart of some of the most pressing issues in mondern society. If you have a longing to learn about sustainable use of the land to feed our population, high latitude agriculture may be the right path for you.

Humans and the Environment

Love the outdoors? Open the door to a great career that won't chain you to a desk by studying natural resources management. And, guess what? Alaska is your classroom!
