Jakubczak Ray Jakubczak has been a biologist with BP for a dozen years and has worked in a variety of positions in environmental science and business managment. |
John
"Chris" Maisch Chris Maisch earned a bachelor of science degree in forestry from the University of Michigan in 1982. Mr. Maisch began his forestry career in 197980 as a forestry technician for the University of Michigan, working on a spruce budworm research program. In 1981 and 1982 he traveled to Alaska and worked as a forest technician, in forest genetics and silviculture, at the Institute of Northern Forestry. In 1983 he accepted a position with the Tanana Chiefs Conference, Inc. (TCC) as inventory forester, and helped establish the inventory program, implementing inventory projects on more than 600,000 acres of native lands in interior Alaska. In 1985 he was promoted to forestry program director. During his tenure at TCC the program grew to six full-time staff foresters and provided professional and technical expertise in forestry practices to Alaska Native corporations and company clients. He enjoys skiing, rafting, canoeing, and other outdoor sports. He and his wife Mary have two children. |
Nancy
Welch Nancy Welch is the deputy director of the Division of Mining, Land, and Water at the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. She has been employed by DNR since 1973, and served as the northern regional land manager for 6 years. She is involved in land use planning andnatural resource development, including mining (oil and gas issues) and surface use issues on the North Slope. An alumna of UAF, she received her BBA in finance in 1994 and her MBA in 1999. She has a son, Brandon, who lives in Fairbanks. |
Stan
Stephens Stan Stephens, a semiretired marine captain, is interested in air, land, and water issues. He has served as a board member for numerous tourism, fishing, and environmental organizations during his 40-plus years in Alaska, and is currently a board member of the Valdez Fisheries Association, a member of the Prince William Sound Community College board, and is the president of the Alaska Forum for Environmental Responsibilty. Mr. Stephens is a member of NAVSAC, a national advisory board to the Coast Guard, and is a member of the Passenger Vessel Association and represents them on NAVSAC. He is a member of both ATIA and AWRTA and represents AWRTA on RCAC both tourism organizations. He has been on the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens Advisory council since the 1989 oil spill. |
Cyndie
Warbelow-Tack Warebelow-Tack joined the Board of Advisors in late fall, 2003, tos erver at least a one-year term. She owns and operates The Plant Kingdom Greenhouse and Nursery in Fairbanks. Her previous experience includes opearting a truck farm on Chena Hot Sprints Road as well as being co-ower and operator of Tack's General Store, the Greenhouse Cafe, and the associated commercial greenhouses from 1980 to 2000. Her educational background is in biology and zoology. She is particularly interested in issues related to horticulture. |
Michael
Woods Michael Woods has been appointed to serve on the Board of Advisors for a three-year term, through December 2006. He is a natural resource management instructor at the King Career Center in the Anchorage School District, a program that teaches eleventh and twelfth graders about the sciences and careers related to resource management. During the past 20 years, Mike has worked for a variety of resource management agencies. His main interests are student recruitment and natural resource management education issues. His interest in the advisory board is to assist in the review of degree programs and SNRAS recruitment efforts throughout the state. |
