Professor BarrickKenneth A. Barrick - Associate Professor of Geography; Southern Illinois '83, Ph.D.; Professor Barrick's interests include physical geography, environmental studies, and natural resource management. His recent research interests include nonmarket economic valuation (especially for wilderness areas), nutrient status and allocation in Rocky Mountain tree species, plant responses to extreme wind and oceanic salt spray, impacts of geothermal energy development on geysers and hot springs. Professor deWitCary W. de Wit - Assistant Professor of Geography; University of Kansas '97, Ph.D.; Dr. de Wit's research intrests include cultural geography, North American regional cultures, rural cultures, perceptual geography, and sense of place. Recent research interests are popular perceptions of Alaska and the expression of frontier ideology in Alaskan politics, culture, and landscape. He teaches courses in world regional geography, geography of the U.S. & Canada, geography of Alaska, geography of Europe, and geography of Asia. E-Mail

Professor VerbylaDavid L. Verbyla - Professor of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Department of Forest Sciences; Utah State University '88, Ph.D.; Dr. Verbyla's research interests include use of GIS technology for resource inventory and climate change studies; integrating remote sensing and GIS for regional analysis, and support for spatial analysis using GIS. He teaches courses in geographic information systems, GIS analysis, and ARC Macro language programming.
