Giving Opportunities

The UAF College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) is the most geographically diverse college in the University of Alaska system. Fisheries, marine science and oceanography are vitally important in Alaska because we have the longest coastline in the nation and the fishing industry employs more people in Alaska than any other—more than 8,000 full-time employees (and numerous other temporary workers).

Among the opportunities for giving to CFOS are gifts that provide general support to the college; graduate student support; and support for the annual regional high school competition that is part of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl.

Graduate students from around the world attend CFOS to further their education in fisheries, marine science and oceanography. Our students travel around the state to conduct research or to present research results to peers, future colleagues and potential employers. Students with a well-demonstrated need receive stipends, supplies, travel support and research equipment.

Thank you for giving to CFOS to prepare the next generation of fisheries and ocean scientists. For more information, please contact UAF Development and Alumni Relations at uaf-giving@alaska.edu or 907-474-2619.
