Science For Alaska

Continuing Education Course for Teachers

Current Topics in the Sciences of Educators

ED F593

The course coincides with the 2009 Science for Alaska Lecture Series, coordinated and sponsored by the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Science for Alaska is designed to bring current scientific topics and research to the community in terms everyone can understand. Lectures provide educators with current scientific material, while the course offers educators an opportunity to create classroom lesson plans based on lecture material.

All course activities may be done online using Blackboard. Blackboard allows course participants to post information about themselves, lecture synopses, classroom lesson and activity plans, questions, comments, and feedback to peers. Contact Ute Kaden, course facilitator, for additional information. Click here to view the course syllabus.

Teachers living outside of the Fairbanks area can participate in ED F593 too! Lectures can be viewed on this site, or by DVD throughout the spring. At least five lectures must be viewed as part of the course.
