Frequently asked questions
I'm not able to register online…why not?
There can be a number of reasons:
- Did you submit your registration form? Degree students must print their registration form at http://uaonline.alaska.edu, have it signed by their advisor and return it to the Registrar's Office.
- Are you a non-degree student who hasn't taken courses within the last two years? If so, you must submit a "No degree intended" application online. Visit http://uaonline.alaska.edu, click on Apply for Admission, then select New Student.
- Do you have holds on your account? Check your registration eligibility at http://uaonline.alaska.edu.
For other problems, contact the Registrar's Office at 474-6300 or registrar@uaf.edu.
What is "enrollment verification"?
UAF is partnered with The National Student Clearinghouse to provide proof of enrollment electronically. Insurance companies accept National Clearinghouse certificates. Once logged in to the secured area of UAOnline, select "Enrollment Verifications" from the Student Services & Account Information menu. The Enrollment Verification Certificates for the current semester will be available for:
- Priority enrollment -- after Jan. 4, 2010.
- Official enrollment -- after Feb. 5, 2010.
Enrollment verification requests may also be submitted to the Registrar's Office.
What is a special permission form?
A completed pink permission form can convey
- approval for waiver of a class prerequisite,
- instructor approval to register,
- removal of a registration restriction (class, major, level),
- approval for a time conflict,
- approval to register for a closed class, or
- permission to add a class from the wait list.
This form can only be obtained from the instructor of the course or from an academic department. It must be completed and signed by the instructor and returned to the Registrar's Office. The Registrar's Office (registrar@uaf.edu) will also accept e-mails from the instructor of record (UAF e-mail address only) for special permission. The e-mail must include the student's name and UA ID number, the course number, CRN and section number, and the reason why special permission is being granted. During web registration, if permission is received via electronic means, the student will be granted permission to register at UAOnline.
My UAOnline PIN doesn't work...help!
Your PIN is initially set to your Date of Birth (6 digits: MMDDYY). If you already changed it and forgot it, select "Forgot PIN?" to answer your security question. If you still can't gain access, it can be reset through any of the following options:
- Bring a picture ID to the Registrar's Office to request a PIN reset.
- Contact the Registrar's Office (474-6300) to request a PIN reset. You will be asked a series of security questions before we are able to reset your PIN. Faculty and staff should contact the OIT Support Center at 479-8300.
- Fax a legible copy of your picture ID, phone number, e-mail address, signature and request to reset PIN to 474-7097. You will be contacted by e-mail once your PIN is reset.
NOTE: A directory or confidentiality hold on your records will require you to present a picture ID at a local campus to have your PIN reset.
