including US-Canadian comparative work, sustainability of communities,
community resource management systems, indigneous-agency co-management
institutions, local knowledge in ecological monitoring and integrated
assessment, and human role in reindeer/caribou systems.

Julie Lurman Joly - Assistant Professor of Natural Resources Law; Rutgers University '97 B.S.; Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies '99 M.E.S.; Georgetown University Law Center '03 J.D.; Dr. Lurman's research interests include wildlife law, comparative natural resources law among arctic circle nations, and the legal/political processes by which natural resources policies are developed in the state of Alaska. Sidney Stephens - Instructor of Global Change Education; University of Alaska Fairbanks '86 M.Ed.; Sidney's focus is K-12 teacher education. She is particularly interested in rural schools and the challenge of connecting the often-disparate perspectives and domains of school and community and of science and traditional ecological knowledge.
