Interests:
Dr. Smeenk's research interests include commercial
horticulture, vegetable production, with an emphasis
on novel, high-value crops. His interests also
include soil quality and nutrient cycling, farm management,
and profitability analysis.

1) Potato variety trials and management optimization

2) Soil quality enhancement using cover crops and/or
compost addition,
3) Non-herbicide methods of weed control in potato
