OBJECTIVE: Applies to all UAF departments operating UAF owned or rented/leased/hired/chartered vehicles.

SCOPE: To ensure adequate physical damage insurance coverage for all UAF vehicles.

I. INTRODUCTION

UAF is self-insured through the Environmental Health, Safety, and Risk Management (EHS&RM) Department for accidental damage to UAF vehicles.

II. PROCEDURE

A. There is a $1,000.00 deductible on each occurrence; which is paid by the department operating the vehicle. This deductible is paid on all damage with no regard to fault.

B. Damage beyond this deductible will normally be paid through the self-insurance. However, there are some exceptions.

*Cases involving items 2. and 3. will be individually reviewed by the Director of Environmental Health, Safety, and Risk Management to determine insurability.

C. Notification to UAF EHS&RM (474-5413)  is required within forty-eight hours for property damage only accidents; injury accidents must be reported immediately.

D. In all cases, injuries to drivers, passengers and damages to non-UAF property, and all UAF personnel are insured.
