Interior-Aleutians Campus (I-AC) is celebrating its 20 year anniversary and looking back over those years we have much to celebrate. The campus is growing; there are new programs being developed and new partnerships being formed. I-AC has a history of innovation and has worked to overcome challenges of distance and poor connectivity in rural Alaska. I-AC programs all have one critical, unique feature and that is a strong connection to Alaska’s tribal people. They were developed through consultation with our Council of Elders and aligned with our mission and goals and with our status as an Alaska Native Serving Institution. I-AC has made math a priority through programs designed to increase enrollment in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and Education. With the help of a NSF funded project, rural Alaska enrollment in STEM degrees at the campuses increased by 1080% (5 students to 59).
