2008 UAF Bristol Bay Campus graduates

The Bristol Bay Campus (BBC) in Dillingham began with a 4,600 square foot facility built in 1981. There were three classrooms, a computer lab, and eight offices. Distance-delivered education had its challenges in the early days with the campus serving 32 remote villages, many with limited resources. The first BBC UAF class graduated in 1988 with four students who received Associate of Arts degrees. The Dillingham facility slowly grew serving more students each year. In 2004, BBC had graduated over 200 students.

In December of 2006, construction was completed on a 6,000 sq. ft. addition, giving the campus 10,600 sq. ft. This new space includes more classrooms, additional staff offices, an environmental/chemistry lab, vocational lab, conference room, and a break room. In present graduating classes, students receive
master, bachelor, and associate degrees along with a variety of certificates. Distance-delivered technology resources have improved with internet access available in remote villages. The campus continues to show growth and to successfully work to meet community needs and requests. The future of the Bristol Bay Campus is to build upon its successes to strengthen the campus and the communities it serves.
