MSG George H Pegues

Master Sergeant George Pegues was born December 1973, in East Saint Louis, Illinois. He entered the Army January 1993; and began his initial training at Fort Benning, Georgia. After completing Basic and AIT, he was assigned to 1st BN, 21st Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), located in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. There he served as an Automatic Rifleman, Machine Gunner and Team Leader. Upon completion of his tour, he PCSed to Fort Campbell, Kentucky and was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment (Air Assault). While assigned to 187th IN Regt, he a Team Leader in Recon Platoon and later deployed to Saudi Arabia in response to the attack on Khobar Towers June of 1996. In 1997, MSG Pegues completed his tour with the Rakkasans and reunited with the 1st BN, 21st Infantry Division in Schofield Barracks. Within the 3 months of serving with the Gimlets, MSG Pegues he entered the threshold of the Noncommissioned Officer Corps. Serving an additional 2 years, he later PCSed to Fort Lewis, Washington, where he was assigned to the 2nd BN, 3rd Infantry Division (Stryker) and became an FBCB2 instructor during the initial integration of the Strykers. After the unit activated he was assigned to Bravo Company where he served as a Squad Leader. Because of his vast knowledge and experience with the Stryker he was hand selected to PCS to Alaska to assist in the transformation of the 172nd Separate Brigade. MSG Pegues was later reassigned to 1st BN, 17th Infantry which later became the 1st BN, 5th Infantry Regiment. During his tenure, he has held the position of Squad Leader in Bravo Company, Platoon Sergeant in both Bravo and Alpha Company and now eagerly anticipates becoming the HHC First Sergeant. In February of 2011, MSG Pegues was assigned to the University of Alaska ROTC Program where he is currently the Senior Military of Science Instructor. MSG Pegues accredited his success to his wife, Nakia, which has been with him for nearly 15 years. He is also the proud father of four sons, Jerrell, Lemonte, Giovanni and George and one daughter, Janae. MSG Pegues currently holds a Degree in General Studies and has completed numerous military schools. His awards and decoration includes two Bronze Star Medals, Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with four Oak leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with silver oak leaf, the National Defense Service Medal with star, Iraqi Campaign Medal (second award), the Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral three, the Army Service Ribbon, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral three, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal (sixth award), the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Air Assault Badge.
