Why did you join the Army?
I wanted to serve my country and needed money for college. The ROTC Scholarship helped me with both. It was an easy decision.
What have you gotten out of your Army experience?
That there is a wide range of knowledge and experience in the Soldiers in the Army and that as a leader you can learn something from all of them as long as you take the time.
What part of the Army do you enjoy the most?
Leading and training Soldiers. Leading your Soldiers into combat and knowing that their success rides on how well you have done your job in garrison and how well you will lead them in combat is an awesome feeling and not one to be taken lightly.
What was your best assignment and why?
Combat Engineer Platoon Leader in Alpha Company, 11th Engineer Battalion. It was my first platoon and I learned a lot from my NCOs and Soldiers. I can still remember all their names and the lasting impressions they have had on me as an officer and person.
What do you want potential Cadets to know about being an officer?
That leading Soldiers is the greatest job in the world but that it requires a lot of commitment and sacrifice.
