ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Examples of some of the things we've accomplished recently.
October 19, 2006 - Joint Society of American Foresters (Yukon River Chapter)-Resource Management Society Annual Meeting
Professionals and students discussed employement opportunities and ways in which to taylor their education to gain competitive edge in the field of forestry. The professionals represented the following entities: CEMML, DOF, and the SNRAS Department of Forest Sciences.
September 2006 - Plant Sale
To begin the semester, we sold house plants which we had propagated earlier in the summer as a fundraiser, raising over $450.
We would like to thank Dr. Pat Holloway and Mrs. Etta Gardener (of the Georgeson Botanical Garden) for donating materials and time to this fundraising effort.
June 24, 2006 - 100 Years of Agriculture
To celebrate and support of the Experimental Farm's 100th anniversary, the Resource Management Society sold reindeer bratwurst and other refreshments to hungry individuals that were enjoying the festivities. The proceeds of these sales went to the RMS.
We would like to thank the Reindeer Research Program for donating the bratwurst.
May 2006 - Road Cleanup
Our crack crew of roadside sanitation specialists spent time cleaning our adopted roadside.
April 17, 2006 - Gubernatorial Panel
We invited the five candidates for Alaska Governer in 2006, who had declared they were running, to a panel discussion of resource management issues in the state. Ethan Berkowitz, John Binkley, Eric Croft, Andrew Halcro, and Sarah Palin first answered questions prepared by RMS, then responded to audience questions. RMS Prime Minister Jason Mercer and SNRAS Dean Carol Lewis provided introductions. Communication graduate student Kathryn Arlen moderated, and RMS officers Nina Schwinghammer and Zachary Baer posed the prepared questions.
