Teresa Flores

Lives in: Bethel, Alaska
Hometown: Mountain Village, Alaska
Degree, year: BS, psychology, 2003
Other degrees: University of Washington, bachelor of clinical health services and physician assistant certificate, 2005
Extracurriculars: I was a very busy student. I was active in both Rural Student Services and chaired positions in Sigma Sigma Sigma. I also enjoyed working in several student positions including as a reader for Disability Services, a peer mentor in the EDGE program and a resident assistant. In my "spare" time I volunteered in the Fairbanks community as well as for the Women's Center on campus.
Employment: Family practice physician assistant, Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp.
Randomly: After graduating with my psychology degree, I didn’t think I would use it as much as I actually do. During college, everyone told me that the bachelor’s degree was just a stepping stone in life and that you wouldn’t have much use for it. I am very happy to say that the time spent on my psychology degree was very well spent as I use it daily both in my clinic interactions with patients as well as during the time I spend as a forensic examiner for the local sexual assault response team. It also came in quite handy with my student advisees when I was a lecturer at the University of Washington Medex Northwest physician assistant training program.
