Telephone Information
UAF
provides telephone service in each residence hall room. UAF's
Office of Information Technology, Telephone Utilities
is responsible for the administration, operation, provision, and
maintenance of this service. All students are expected to provide
their own telephone and cord, and we highly recommend all students to bring an answering machine.
Long Distance Calls: Long distance calls can
be made using any national calling card.

From off campus: To call a residence hall/apt phone number from outside the UAF phone system you need to dial (907) 455 –XXXX and the phone number.
Toll
Free / "800" & "888" Dialing:
You will be able to call "800" and "888" telephone
numbers without incurring a charge.
Service
Restrictions: You will be unable to place calls to pay
per call services (e.g. '900' numbers, or calls to '976' services).
STUDENTS ARE NOT TO ACCEPT COLLECT OR THIRD PARTY CALLS! The University
has made every effort to block/prohibit these types of calls.
Fraud
and Annoyance Calls: Alaska law prohibits the fraudulent
use of calling card or telephone billing number, or obtaining
or attempting to obtain telephone service with the intent to avoid
charges. If you are found to be misusing the services, you will
be subject to disciplinary action. The placing of an obscene phone
call is a federal offense, and such cases will be turned over
to the authorities, in addition to university judicial actions.

Instructions for phone features:
Call Waiting: Alerts you while on your existing call that you have an incoming call waiting for you. You may accept that call without termination your original call. During your conversation, you will hear two quick beeps.
To answer new call, punch the feature activation button, the first caller will be put on hold and you will be connected to the second call. Push the feature activation button to alternate between callers. (Call waiting will not allow conferencing of the tow parties involved.)
Malicious Call Tract: To trace a malicious call, while on the line press the feature activation button and dial 883. You will be immediately reconnected to the caller and then you may hang up. Contact UAF Public Safety at 7721 and inform them that you have invoked a malicious call trace.
Repairs:Trouble should be reported to Residence
Life staff. The staff will submit a work order and a technician
from the Office of Information Technology will locate the trouble
and make the repair. There is no charge for this service repair
unless the damage is due to malicious abuse.
