Single Student Housing Features
Residence Hall Kitchens: Kitchen areas are available in each residence hall for occasional light meals and snacks. Students are responsible for providing utensils, food, dishes and cleaning supplies, though some halls may have some cooking supplies available for check-out from the hall office.
Laundry: Washers and dryers are provided at no additional cost and are available in laundry rooms in each building. Laundry facilities are for the use of residents only.
Lounges, Recreation, and TV Rooms: Each hall has a recreation and/or TV room and equipment available for the use of residents and their guests. This equipment may include pool tables, ping-pong tables, or fooseball tables. Currently, each TV lounge is wired with cable television service.
The Hess Rec Center, located in the MBS Complex, has recreation equipment, televisions, and computers for students to use during the evenings and weekends. Hess Rec also hosts many activities and events, such as dances, concerts, comedy shows and movie nights.
Storage: There is no storage space available for belongings, luggage or boxes in the residence halls.
Room Care and Modifications: Residents are responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of their room/apartment and its furnishings. Each student is required to fill out and sign a room inventory upon moving in that records the condition of the room or apartment.
Weapons Storage: Weapons are absolutely prohibited from being kept in rooms and apartments, and must be stored in the weapons storage areas provided by the UAF Police Department. There are no exceptions to this policy. Items that are considered weapons include all guns, ammunition, martial arts weapons, bows, arrows, and knives larger than pocket knives.
