How to Apply for Housing

Housing at UAF is in high demand, and not all applicants can be guaranteed space on campus.  Students wishing to live in single student housing can normally be assured of getting a space if they apply before August 1.  Later applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis and there is no guarantee space will be available.

The 2012-2013 single student housing application is available in a downloadable PDF format.  You will need Adobe Acrobat to print the applications.  Please click here to get the Adobe Acrobat if you don't have it.

If you would like someone else to reserve your room for you, please fill out the "Proxy Form."

The application and information about housing and dining are part of the UAF Trail Guide, published by Admissions.  We encourage you to review the entire Trailguide to make sure you don't skip a step!

Print the application. Please read the application carefully and then fill it out. You can fill it out using Acrobat, then print and sign the form prior to sending it in. Applications received by Residence Life that are not signed will not be processed.

In order to process your application, the first 3 pages of the application must be completed and included when you send in your application. If you decide to have a land line connected to your campus room, you should complete the Telephone Agreement on page 4 of the agreement.  If you will be living in the Residence Halls and are not a graduate student, you should also complete a Dining Services agreement with your meal plan preferences.

Send the application, along with $350 ($315 deposit, $35 application fee), to the address or fax number below. Please send a check or money order, or provide credit card information on the application. You will receive written confirmation of acceptance and a receipt for your deposit. You should return your dining services application at the same time. If you are required to have a meal plan but do not complete a Dining Services application, you will be automatically assigned the Default Meal Plan.

We encourage you to send in your application with your deposit as early as possible. All applications for fall semester received prior to August 1st will be given priority. The residence halls fill up very quickly for the fall semester. Over the past several years, demand for on campus housing has exceeded availability and we have been forced to create waiting lists for residence hall spaces.

While we encourage all students to apply for admission to UAF, acceptance to UAF is not required to apply for housing.  Once you have applied for housing, complete these additional forms:

These forms are available through Admissions

Assignments

Assignments for the fall semester are made throughout the summer; spring semester assignments are made in late December and as received after winter break. You will be informed by letter as soon as a room assignment is made.

All requests for specific rooms or halls are honored on a first- received, first placed basis as long as space is available and all eligibility requirements are met. Several of our more popular residence halls will have only a few spaces for new residents. We try to place you in the building of your choice, but this is not always possible.

Please note on the application any request for a specific roommate. We cannot guarantee all requests.

Cancellations

The cancellation policies specific to your agreement are available on the back page of your application, or page 2 of the online application.
