Through the undergraduate research symposium, several faculty expressed an interest in finding more opportunities to connect with undergraduates who are interested in doing research. In an effort to address this, the Center for Research Services is sponsoring a research fair, September 18, 2009. This date will be prior to the undergraduate research program funding deadline to encourage students to get involved in research and funding opportunities.

Departments are invited to staff a table at the research fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to advertise any student opportunities, including paid student positions, volunteer opportunities or for-credit opportunities. Additionally, faculty are encouraged to submit any research opportunities they have available for the coming year to be included in a list that will be provided to students online and in person at the fair.

If you have an opportunity that you would like to be included on the list, please send the following information to jenn@alaska.edu.
-Contact name, email and phone number
-Discipline or area of research
-brief description of duties
-nature of opportunity (volunteer, paid. etc.)
-any prerequisite requirements

If you would like to coordinate a table for your department or unit, please contact Jenn Wagaman (jenn@alaska.edu) to reserve a place. Tables should be reserved no later than September 1.
