Office of Sponsored Programs:
- Pre-Award Fundamentals - This presentation will cover the pre-award basics of sponsored programs at UAF. Topics include: proposal basics; proposal routing and approval procedures; UAF policies and procedures, sponsor and federal regulations; and tips to make the process go more smoothly.
- Budget Development in Proposals - This presentation will cover fundamental concepts for developing budgets that meet sponsor requirements and comply with federal circulars, UAF policies, and cost accounting standards. Topics include: budget all major cost categories (salaries, benefits, student assistants and tuition, travel, equipment, materials and supplies, services, consultants, subawards, participant support costs, other direct costs, and F&A costs). Other topics include: sponsor-specific budget guidelines and writing a solid budget justification that supports the scope of work and budget line items.
- Matching, Cost Sharing, and In-Kind Contributions - What do these terms mean? What is the difference between them? What is UAF’s practice? This presentation will cover the “grey areas” of matching, cost sharing, and in-kind contributions. This presentation will describe common sources of matching, federal policy, and UAF policy.
- BANNER (FRAPROP) Training - This hands-on seminar will guide pre-award staff through the ins and outs of data entry for the BANNER Proposal Maintenance Form (FRAPROP). Participants will learn the required fields of this module and tips for searching and entering information. Participants also practice entering proposal information in TRNX. To receive write access to BANNER FRAPROP, the participant will need to enter total of three practice proposals (including the one from class!) into the TRNX. After OSP staff check the practice proposals for accuracy, write access to FRAPROP will be granted through Financial Services. Course prerequisite: Banner Navigation Training
- Electronic Proposal Submission Systems - This seminar will provide an introduction to the various electronic submission systems used by the federal government: when to use which one and the procedures for coordinating submission with the Office of Sponsored Programs. The e-systems that will be covered are: NSF FastLane, NIH Commons, Grants.gov, The Department of Energy’s Industry Interactive Procurement System, The Department of Education’s e-Grants, NASA’s NSPIRES, and The Department of Justice’s OJP Grants Management System.
