Conference for Sustainability IGERTs
Integrating sciences to understand social-ecological systems

Doctoral students and faculty of  IGERT programs IGERET programs studying the sustainability of social-ecological systems gathered for a national conference sponsored by the National Science Foundation and hosted by the Resilience and Adaptation Program of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. About 60 people representing 28 IGERT programs participated.  The objectives of the meeting were:

  • To share perspectives on key themes and problem areas in the study of social-ecological systems and their sustainability;
  • To learn from others about delivering or taking integrated Ph.D. training in this topic area; and 
  • To document the lessons learned from this meeting and share them among IGERT programs and with the broader public.
