1996 RAHI Student Biographies2

RAHI Students--1996 continued !

Randy Gibson

Nickname: "Ed"

Home Town: Delta Junction

Born: 1978 (Sept. 23)

Family: The Natives

Ed says "now I'm nothing" is a favored phrase. In 5 years this young man says that he hopes to be turning out songs as a producer in the music industry. Climbing closer to Heaven by scaling Angel Rocks during Twin Bears will survive as a best RAHI memory for Randy. But staying up in 48 hours runs toward the sour side of his RAHI memory lane. He'll most miss recruiting NIN fans, and least, "the rulz!" He attended RAHI with scholarship help from the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.

Kimberly George

Nickname: "Kim"

Home Town: Nulato

Born: 1979 (June 5)

Family: Smurfs

Kim has proclaimed that the water fights, family group outings, and Twin Bears are on her list of best memories of RAHI, but she seems not to have any worst memories (which is very good). Though the friends she made will be missed the most, the Lower Commons will be missed the least. She isn't sure what she wants to do in five years.

Sonya Hill

Nickname: "Oliveoyl"

Home Town: Aniak

Born: 1979 (July 20)

Family: The Natives

"Who knows where thoughts come from? They just appear!" These words make up Sonya's favorite statement. She will remember best laughing with everyone, and will certainly miss the "awesome water fights." Her distasteful recollections go to getting behind in homework, having to catch up and study halls. Yet, in five years, she would like to have done a lot more homework and to be graduating from college.

Carolyn Hoover

Native name: "Aryak"

Home Town: Kasigaluk

Born: 1979 (Sept. 22)

Family: Goof Troop

Aryak is very specific about what she will miss the most about RAHI: Debbie's whistling says she. Carolyn, an Alyeska Pipeline Service Company RAHI scholar, has no favored saying, but she has places marked in her memory bank. For example, whereas sweating too much in the dorm ranks low of course, the Twin Bears relay race is right up there at the top of her memory scale. Homework, though, is‹ well, right down there with what won't be missed, and yet, five years down the road she hopes to be enrolled in college.

Nicholas Hoover

Native name: "Uquviar"

Home Town: Kasigluk

Born: 1979 (Oct. 1)

Family: Fish Camp Friends

"Uquviar's" best memory will be his trip to Twin Bears, and the worst is staying up late finishing papers (so, does this mean his bicycle crash and six stitches was a picnic?). Nicholas claims his five-year plan sees him flying a plane after first experimenting by flying a bicycle, or is that flying off a bike Nick? He'll miss his new friends the most after RAHI, but the same will not be true for the Commons food. One favorite saying? "Arooo!"

Delores Huffman

Nickname: "Sunshine"

Home Town: Huslia

Born: 1980 (July 11)

Family: V-8

Delores, the pleasant of pleasant young women, will recall most favorably Twin Bears and the relay races, and she will most miss all RAHI students and the staff. Less favorable memory will be of the food, and she will least miss running out of money. She hopes to be travelling as an anthropologist five years from now.

Lisa Isaac

Native name: "Arrsamquq"

Home Town: Kasigluk

Born: 1979 (Nov. 10)

Family: The Natives

"Arrsamquq" hopes to finish college in five years, she will most miss " my friends!!!," and will least miss the homework. She loves to say, "so sick," and "so evil." Her best recollection will be of Donna, her roommate, jumping up and opening the curtains during her sleep in the middle of the night. Her worst memory will be being very homesick.

April Dawn Kairaiuak

Native name: "It'gacangaq"

Home Town: Kwigillingok

Born: 1978 (Dec. 17)

Family: Lil' Rascals

It'gacangaq, with those smiley Kairaiuak eyes, will most miss the friends she met at RAHI, and her best memory will remain one of Sam "pushing me into the water at Chena Lake." Breaking down in the van enroute back to campus from Nenana will likely be missed the least, and her ton of RAHI homework at the end of a day will be missed not at all. April loves to say "I joke" and "psyche." She hopes to achieve her goals in five years.

Clara Kakurtak

Nickname: "Bo-girl"

Home Town: Alakanuk

Born: 1978 (April 15)

Family: Goof Troop

Bo-girl favors RAHI friends and fun in the best memory category and will most miss "the many friends I have, mostly the dorm staff‹ I love all of you." She who likes to say "Kool," is less enthusiastic about the 6 AM run, even when acknowledging that it is a RAHI tradition, and the food at the Lola Tilly Commons. Clara is hopeful to be teaching in her home town five years down life's road.

Waylon Koutchak

Nickname: "Hefty Smurf"

Born: 1978 (April 23)

Home Town: Unalakleet

Family: V-8

Waylon hopes in five years to be a RAHI counselor. He has no bad memory at RAHI, but he most fondly recalls climbing Angel Rock without gear and living on the edge. He says, "I love it when you call me ŒBig Papa'," and his favorite phrase, "Me and Jenny are like peas and carrots." He least liked the rules at RAHI, and most enjoyed the peace and quiet and friends (you call those water fights peaceful?).

Trina Kowunna

Nick names: "Lil' Mike," "Tiny T," or "Beep"

Home Town: Noatak

Born: 1979 (Sept. 13)

Family: The Natives

Lil' Mike favors two best memories, Twin Bears and when the boys dressed up as girls, and proclaims dying her hair as her worst recollection. She favors two favorite sayings "Psyche" and "Yo! Wait up!". Now Trina doesn't indicate RAHI homework will be missed, but her RAHI friends will definitely be missed. In four plus one years from now she'd like to be receiving her Bachelor's Degree.

Marcia Leopold

Native name: "Qayaguuq"

Home Town: Emmonak

Born: 1977 (July 10)

Family: V-8

What Marcia will miss most about RAHI is her new family, and she will recall as her best memory her 40 mile bike ride to Twin Bears (she was Awesome!). Qayaguuq is no fan of the summer heat; however, her nightmare about smelling Gonzo leaves her cold. In half a decade she hopes to be graduating. She loves to say "I need help!" Anyone out there willing to help?

Pamela Lestenkof

Home Town: St. Paul

Born: 1979 (Oct. 25)

Family: Goof Troop

In five years this young lady would like to be going to college in Hawaii. She recalls that her best memory will be of the weekends and Thursdays, while her worst memory will be of the mosquito bites and the library. She says she will miss her friends and the weather the most, and the least??? That would have to be getting thrown in cold water and being splashed.

Lewis Lomack

Nick name: "Louie"

Home Town: Akiachak

Born: 1978 (Sept. 14)

Family: Goof Troop

Louie has that heart and eye out for, well, the girls. It's they who will be the most missed, and who will furnish him with the fondest memories, but not with a parachute for the roller coaster. His homework is his least fond memory, but "I didn't do it!" is Louie's favorite statement. Oh, he will miss working out in the gym too, and in five years hence he'd like to fly an F- 16. Lewis got to RAHI with assistance of an Alyeska Pipeline Service Company scholarship.

Gladys Mekianna

Native name: "Aqirgaq"

Home Town: Anaktuvuk Pass

Born: 1979 (March 28)

Family: Smurfs

Well, the no-curfew Twin Bears junket serves as Aqirgaq's best memory of RAHI, but breaking her nose (breaking it?) as her worst recollection. "Gee Whiz" she says is her favorite phrase, and she will miss RAHI parents much more than the commons. She would, in five years, like to see everyone from RAHI.
