Cara Wallace
Hello, my name is Cara Wallace. I grew up in Saxman, Alaska and an a graduate of Ketchikan High School. Currently, I am a sophmore at Dartmouth College and will double my major in Government and native American Studies. I am especially interested in Alaskan Native Studies and will spend the Fall 2001 semester at the University of Alaska Fairbanks to further my knowledge of native peoples in Alaska. When I complete my Bachlors of Arts degree, I plan on pursuing a Masters in Public Policy and working in our nation's capital at a national public health policy or natice law and policy institute. Finally, I plan on attending medical school and practicing medicine in rural areas of Alaska.
Although this is my first year being associated with the Rural Alaska Honors Institute, I have enjoyed myself immensely. I believe that RAHI offers such a wide range of services and opportunities to the students who become a part of the institute. While students earn college credits and learn about the rigors of college life they also become a member of a social setting which allows them to interact with peers who come from varied cultures and life experiences.
I have had many great memories created at RAHI with several students and I hope that the friendships and experiences shared between the staff and students will be far more reaching than over the past two months.
Two of my favorite web sites are:
