I attended Rural Alaska Honors Institute during the summer of 2001

.

I am from Ambler, which is a town of about 300 people. It is located on the Kobuk River, which is in Northwest Alaska. North of Ambler is the Brooks Range and Southeast of Ambler are the Great Kobuk Sand Dunes. Ambler might be one of the newer villages in Alaska. In 1958 several families from Shungnak moved 30 miles down the Kobuk River. In Ambler there is a restaurant, a lodge, and two other grocery stores. Ambler's a rec-center and a board-game night. Like any other village, basketball is a popular sport in Ambler. Ambler has two state titles to it's name, one for each of the boys and girls Grizzles teams.

Goals: I want to be a RN or Optomologist. I also want to work at Red Dog part-time or be a cosmetologist.

Interests/Hobbies: I like to play basketball, listen to music, read books. Talk on the phone, go on summer vacations, chat of the Internet, take pictures and fill up my photo albums, crochet, record mixed tapes, and most of all I like riding my four-wheeler and snowmachine. I also like to super glue a jar shut with a little slot cut out on the top of the lid and filling it up with pocket change. The fun thing about that is exchange a full jar into paper dollars when I've been broke for one whole week.
