Background and Interests:

My research interests center around ethnic minority health disparities and cultural influences on health. » I am particularly interested in harm reduction interventions for alcohol and other substance use disorders. » I completed my graduate training at the University of Texas at El Paso, where I earned a M.A. in clinical psychology and a Ph.D. in applied health psychology. » I then completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in alcohol etiology and treatment at the Research Institute on Addictions, University at Buffalo, before joining the UAF faculty in fall of 2009.

..

Current Research:

I have a joint appointment in Psychology and the Center for Alaska Native Health Research, Institute of Arctic Biology. » Current projects include an investigation of attitudes toward different types of alcohol misuse interventions among Alaska Native and American Indian college students.

Students who are interested in participating in this research study should visit: www.uafstudy.com to see if this study is right for them. Eligible participants will answer a survey and receive a Visa gift card for $25.
