University Planning Office
Administrative responsibility for University Planning is housed under the Office of the Provost, University Planning Office (UPO). In addition to maintaining the facility database, the unit is responsible for long range space planning, prioritizing and responding to space requests, temporary space assignments related to building projects, monitoring space use, campus master planning, and related tasks. UPO is not responsible for room scheduling. The Registrar’s Office and the Wood Center Scheduling Office carry out this function. The vision, mission and values of UPO appear below. VISION • The use of all physical space at the University of Alaska
Fairbanks campus shall directly support the university’s
mission of teaching, research and service, as well as the Strategic,
Academic Development, and Campus Master Plans; MISSION The mission of UPO is to plan, implement, and oversee the best possible use of UAF’s physical space. Physical space includes all buildings on the Fairbanks campus and leased space, with guidance available for the College of Rural Alaska campuses. VALUES Quality Service - Consistent, fair, and timely service to the campus community will be provided. The commitment to explore all options, open discussion of those options, and the negotiation of acceptable agreements with all concerned parties is the foundation of UPO's service. Innovation - Accurate, up-to-date space information that is managed electronically and available to users encourages the exploration of creative space solutions. The ongoing application, evaluation and modification of information technology to space management are cornerstones of UPO's daily operations. Stewardship - Stewardship of UAF space is the responsibility of everyone who works and lives on campus. All space must be used in a manner that is consistent with and supports the university mission and the Strategic, Academic and Campus Master Plans. The notion of individual or departmental ownership of space is not supported on the UAF campus. Space is owned by the university and shall be used in the best possible ways to meet the needs of the institution at any given time. |
