Instructional Assessment System (IAS)

The Office of the Provost works with both the faculty and unit coordinators (staff) to obtain the student opinion of instruction using the Instructional Assessment System (IAS).

NEW - eXplorance Blue Online Course Assessment

A new online course assessment software, Blue, will be piloted at UAF during Spring 2015.  The online assessments will be released to students enrolled in courses participating in the pilot starting on April 20, 2015; online course assessments will be available through May 4, 2015.  Students enrolled in the pilot courses will receive an email containing a link to access the online course assessments.  Students may also access the online assessments by signing into Blackboard, and checking the “My Course Evaluations” block on “My Blackboard.”

Results of the online course assessments will be made available to instructors on May 18, 2015, after grades have been released.

Background Information: In response to a recommendation by the UAF Faculty Senate, UAF administration has decided to move away from the current paper method of assessing student opinions of instruction towards an electronic assessment instrument. The motivation for both the recommendation and the subsequent adoption were summarized in reports submitted by the Electronic Course Evaluation task force over the last two years, and they can be found at the following links:
