Mission:                                                                 To provide a quality, undergraduate, theatre arts education.

Goal:                                                                      To ascertain whether Theatre UAF graduates have received a quality, undergraduate, theatre arts education that has prepared them for careers in their field of choice.

1)

Students will develop their oral and written communication skills.

 

 

 

For a BA In Theatre with a

Performance Emphasis:

 Entry Level: Director’s comment sheet of students’ first monologue presented at a Theatre UAF audition and/or comment sheets of instructor during students’ final presentation in the first acting class taken (usually Fundamentals of Acting.)

Exit Level: Faculty evaluation sheets of audition monologues, class presentations and/or performances given during the student’s senior year.

 

For a BA In Theatre with a Design & Technical Theatre, or Directing Emphasis:

Entry Level: Resume or list of theatre classes and experiences presented at first portfolio review will be evaluated on a Student Evaluation form by faculty.

Exit Level: Resume and portfolio review at time of graduation with additional evaluation of materials provided by faculty.

 

For a BA In Theatre with a

 Film Emphasis:

Entry Level: Resume or list of theatre classes and experiences presented at first portfolio review will be evaluated on a Student Evaluation form by faculty.

Exit Level: Exit Assessment form to be completed by student before graduation.

 

 

 

 

Directors of the season’s plays will write audition comments during open auditions at the beginning of the semester.  Faculty will likewise document student final presentations in a comment/evaluation format.  All comment sheets/evaluations will be kept in the students’ file for accesses by that student and for purposes of assessment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Resume and portfolio review is required by all theatre majors.  To be collected by faculty and stored in student file by administrative assistant.  Resume and Portfolio will be reviewed before a major graduates. During these regularly scheduled reviews, faculty will record their comments on Student Evaluation Forms to be stored in the students’ file and accessible only to named student and administrative staff.

For a BA In Theatre with a 

Directing Emphasis:

Entry Level: Entrance Assessment form to be completed by all Theatre students at the beginning of the semester.

Exit Level:  Sample of alumni survey (productions, roles, acceptance to graduate school.)

 

For a BA in Theatre with a Design & Technical Emphasis:

Entry Level: Entrance Assessment form to be completed by all Theatre students at the beginning of the semester.

Exit Level:  Outgoing Assessment Forms will be completed by students before graduation.

 

 

 

Resume at time of graduation will be collected and kept In the student's file.  Entry-level resume can be compared to graduating resume.

Students will develop skills In their area of concentration: performance, film, directing, design & technical theatre.

For a BA In Theatre with a

Entrance and exit assessment surveys are distributed at the beginning and end, respectively, of each academic year.  These surveys supply general information regarding the interests, goals, concerns, and accomplishments of the students.

Students will develop their social skills and leadership abilities.

For a BA in Theatre:

 

Entry Level: Entrance Assessment form to be completed by all Theatre students at the beginning of the semester.

Exit Level:  Exit Assessment to be completed by Student prior to graduation.

 

 

 

 

 

Theatre students are required to function as a part of a larger theatre company (Theatre UAF), requiring teamwork, managerial skills, and personal excellence.

Students are encouraged to participate in the Student Drama Association (SDA), which functions as an independent student-governed club.  Members of SDA elect officials, and produce their own plays independently of Theatre UAF. 

Exit interviews ask students about their growth in areas of self-confidence, collaboration skills, and leadership/sense of responsibility.
