Graduates will demonstrate the ability to analyze, synthesize and evaluate in each of the following NAEYC initial licensure standards:

  • promoting child development;
  • building family & community relationships;
  • using observation, documentation & assessment to support young children & families;
  • using effective approaches in teaching to promote learning;
  • identifying themselves as early childhood professional and conducting themselves in accordance with professional standards

 

ECE 470 Advanced Practicum course will serve as a capstone class.  In it students will complete a portfolio, comprehensive exam or special project to document their ability to analyze, synthesize and evaluate in the NAEYC initial licensure standards mentioned in the objectives/outcomes. 

 

A committee of statewide faculty will review the portfolios, comprehensive exams or special projects annually, in late April, using a rubric of the standards to determine how well the students have achieved the intended objectives.

 

 

 

Graduates will be satisfied with their professional preparation and current employment.

 

 

 

 

 

A survey will be given to each graduate to determine their satisfaction with the course of study.

 

A second survey will be sent out a year after the student has graduated.

A statewide professional council will review the survey responses annually, compile the data and report the aggregate level of graduate satisfaction to the program chair.  The results will be divided according to graduates and those 1-2 years past graduation.

 

Employers will be satisfied with the BA CDFS graduates they employ.

 

 

 

 

A survey will be given to each employer to determine their satisfaction with the skills of the graduate.

 

 

A statewide professional council will review the survey responses annually, compile the data and report the aggregate level of employer satisfaction to the program chair. 

 

Graduates demonstrate competencies consistent with current standards and needs of the profession.

 

Using the data obtained from the surveys, the statewide professional council will make recommendations to the program chair for curricular changes.

The chair will work with statewide ECE team, the advisory council and other stakeholders to make appropriate changes.
