Collecting, Analyzing, and Using Faculty Evaluation Data.
Learn
how to collect and use data to improve evaluation practice
and for career enhancement for faculty
OVERVIEW: In practice, day-to-day evaluation often does not
reflect what has been learned from years of research or what
can be done to best make use of the data collected. Join us online
as we discuss how to collect and use data to improve evaluation
practice and for career enhancement for faculty.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Faculty evaluators and developers, academic
leaders, data handling and analysis professionals, and faculty
who serve on promotion and tenure committees will identify useful
faculty evaluation data, describe the ways data can be effectively
collected, analyzed, and reported, and determine the most productive
ways to use the data.
TOPICS INCLUDE
Basic issues in evaluation
Evaluation purposes and data types
Uses of evaluation data
Collecting data from multiple sources
Implementation issues
Guidelines to good practice
INSTRUCTOR: Michael Theall, Youngstown State University
Mike has been a full-time faculty member and/or directed teaching
centers at four universities. He has developed, implemented, and
managed student ratings systems at two institutions and installed
ratings systems at a score of other institutions. He has edited,
published, and presented over 160 books, monographs, papers, or
workshops on college teaching, faculty evaluation and development,
teaching improvement, and organizational development.
