About UAF: Institutional Accreditation

UAF has been continuously accredited by the Commission on Colleges and Universities of the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges since 1934. Institutional accreditation is mandated by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a means of quality control. This accreditation is what allows our students to transfer credits to other institutions and allows us to receive federal funds. In the fall of 2001 UAF went through a full-scale self-study and site visit. As a result of that visit, the Commission reaffirmed UAF’s accreditation status. To find out more about the self-study process click on Institutional Accreditation.
