What is the Academic Leadership Institute?
UAF’s Academic Leadership Institute, founded by Provost Emeritus Paul Reichardt in 2000-01, is designed as an opportunity for a small group of faculty, staff and/or administrators to explore the topic of leadership in an academic context. Since its inception more than one hundred individuals have taken part in the Institute resulting in enhanced leadership at UAF.
The format of the Institute is a morning gathering (9am to noon) one Saturday each month during the academic year with the time divided between an invited speaker, questions and answers, and a case study. There will be homework in the form of required reading. Each of the ten or so “students” will receive the set of books courtesy of the Provost.
The schedule of speakers, texts and case studies for 2014 - 2015 sessions is available here:
- Relatively new administrators
- Faculty or staff who are considering administration as a potential career direction
- Faculty or staff who are simply interested in the topic of leadership in an academic setting
- Participants do not have to be located in Fairbanks, our intent is to include some rural participants by audio
Participants have already been selected for the 2014-2015 session of the Academic Leadership Institute. Please check this page in early spring 2015 for instructions on applying for the next session
