Lock/Unlock Requests

Individual office, lab, classroom and after-hour building lock and unlock service is available based on prior written agreement and subject to available staffing level and is priority based. Please take the time to read and understand the requirements for this service in advance of your particular need. The link below also covers access authorization lists for instructors and students.

Lock/Unlock Service Agreements

Security Escort Service

At any time day or night you may call 474-7721 to have a Community Service Officer escort you to your car, residence, or any other building on campus. You must have photo identification and the escort may be on foot or in a vehicle.

Vehicle Jumpstarts

During regular business hour (M-F 8-5) jumpstarts are provided free of charge by UAF Parking Services. At all other times, the UAF Police will provide this service if possible. You must be the registered owner of the vehicle.

Vehicle Unlocks

Vehicle unlocks are provided, free of charge by the UAF Parking Services department during regular business hours and by the UAF Police at all other times if possible. You must be the registered owner of the vehicle and have photo identification. We cannot unlock vehicles with electric locks or side airbags.

Fingerprinting

Not the criminal type! Numerous employers and agencies require a set of fingerprints from prospective employees. People applying for teacher certifications, liquor licenses, foster care, weapons transfers, and adoptions will need a set of fingerprints. There is a $40.00 charge for this service. You must bring with you photo identification such as a drivers license or a passport. The UAF Police department provides this service by appointment only. Please call 474-5458 to schedule a time. This is a message line only, please do not repeatedly ring and attempt to bypass the need to leave your name and number as a message. This is the only way appointments are taken and scheduled. Please plan ahead and leave message at least a week before you need the appointment. We cannot perform employment background checks however.

Property Engraver

We have engravers available for 24 hour check-out for use in marking your personal or professional property. There is no charge for checking out an engraver.

Special Event Security/Assistance

The UAF Police can provide security or security ideas and recommendations for special events such a dances, festivals, or bazaars. Other considerations such as crowd control or traffic control may be addressed and coordinated. Contact the department at 474-5899 for current charge rates and scheduling requirements.

Gun Storage

Guns are not allowed in campus residences. The UAFPD has a secure room where individuals may store their gun. Checking a weapon in or out is done by appointment only so please allow at least 24 hours to be able to retrieve your gun. This service is free of charge.
