Tim Stern - Resonance Lidar Studies

I worked for Dr. Richard Collins. The primary focus of my research was resonance lidar studies of the mesospheric sodium and iron layers. The research position involved making rayleigh and resonance lidar measurements at Poker Flat Research Range, maintaining the lidar data archive, and analysis of lidar data for ongoing studeis and publication.

During the research experience I gained working knowledge of the lasers and receivers associated with lidar systems. In addition, I gained computer programming skills and became familiar with the scientific research process. My undergraduate research experience was an excellent preparation for my current graduate studeis and I expect that it will be an asset when applying for research positions.
