UAF Strategic Plan 2005

UAF Strategic Plan 2005 describes the institution's basic responsibilities and focuses the university's growth and direction with respect to its institutional mission. In doing so, the plan outlines six institutional goals which are in turn measured by 2 to 4 performance indicators each. The plan is an updated version of UAF Strategic Plan 2000 as authored in 1993. The current plan is the result of a collaborative effort incorporating faculty, staff, students, the business community and general public input. The Chancellor's Cabinet formally adopted UAF Strategic Plan 2005 in July 2001.

The goals of UAF Strategic Plan 2005 are:

Goal 1
Serve as a world leader in arctic research and related graduate education.

Goal 2
Provide high quality undergraduate education for traditional and non-traditional students.

Goal 3
Respond to recommendations of communities, organizations, business and government in course offerings necessary to meet identified state, national and global needs.

Goal 4
Serve as the premiere higher educational center for Alaska Natives.

Goal 5
Serve as a model to demonstrate how gender, racial and cultural diversity can strengthen a university and society.

Goal 6
Serve as an academic gateway to the study of North Pacific and circumpolar northern land and seas.
