Alaska Native Knowledge Network Alaska Native Cultural Material The Alaska Native Knowledge Network is a database driven website designed to serve as a resource for compiling and exchanging information related to Alaska Native knowledge systems and ways of knowing. Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program Alaska Native Cultural Material The Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program (ANSEP) is an undergraduate academic program for Native students from Alaska, North America and the Pacific Rim Islands who are majoring in the sciences, engineering and/or mathematics. Alaska Quaternary Center Alaska Science Forum A weekly column dedicated to sharing the lastest scientific research in Alaska with the world. Alaska Statewide High School Science Symposium (ASHSSS) Grades 9-12 can participate in Science, Math, Engineering and Technology (SMET) Mentored Research. Participation includes writing a scientific paper on student research performed and submitting a formal paper and abstract for competitive revie American Indian Science and Engineering Society Alaska Native Cultural Material The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is a national organization that provides support for Alaska Natives and American Indians pursuing studies in science, engineering and other academic areas. Arctic Climate Modeling Program Alaska Native Cultural Material The Arctic Climate Modeling Program (ACMP) provides a pipeline of progressive instruction that uses Arctic weather and climate observations to teach progressive levels of science at elementary to high-school levels. CES Sustainable Rural Communities Program Alaska Native Cultural Material Part of the UAF Cooperative Extension Service, the Sustainable Rural Communities Program addresses rural youth development, sustainable natural resource based income opportunities, adult workforce and community development among underserved rur Doug Schamel Memorial Fund Funding opportunity for promoting and supporting science education and enthusiasm for science in K-12 age children. Geosciences Club The UAF Geosciences Club is a student organization open to any UAF student interested in the study of Geology and Geophysics. International Arctic Research Center School Tours Join staff for a tour of the International Arctic Research Center (IARC), which serves as headquarters for scientists studying arctic and global climate. Museum Docent Led School Tours Alaska Native Cultural Material Docent led tours are conducted by volunteer docents (museum teachers) for K-6 students on a variety of program themes using the Hands-on Collection and Museum exhibits. Osher Lifelong Learning Institute The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is designed for Alaskans over age 50 who are interested in continued learning. Membership provides lectures by UAF faculty and travel opportunities with like-minded individuals. Permafrost Outreach Program The University of Alaska EPSCoR program is conducting an outreach effort in conjunction with it’s research focus on permafrost and infrastructure. Teachers can bring their students to the museum for self-guided tours and specific assignments related to classroom studies. UAF Alaska Summer Research Academy The UAF Alaska Summer Research Academy (ASRA) is a two-week summer camp for students in grades 8-12 administered by the College of Natural Science and Mathematics. Keith B. Mather Library Science Education Outreach Collection The Keith B. Mather Library is the research support library for the Geophysical Institute and the International Arctic Research Center. The library contains a collection of science education outreach materials appropriate for K-12 teachers.
